Walk into any supermarket in Maidstone, Canterbury, or Thanet and the evidence is right there on the price tags. Families in Kent are paying more for food, more for energy, and more for housing than at any point in recent memory.
And what has the government done? Announced reviews. Commissioned reports. Held meetings about meetings.
At GB Freedom Party, we believe actions speak louder than consultations. Here’s what we would push for:
Cut energy bills at the source
Britain sits on vast natural resources, yet we pay some of the highest energy prices in Europe. We would support domestic energy production and scrap the green levies that add hundreds of pounds to household bills every year.
Slash fuel duty
Kent is a county that depends on cars. Not everyone lives near a train station or bus route. Cutting fuel duty would put money directly back into working people’s pockets.
Build homes that people can actually afford
The housing crisis isn’t going to be solved by luxury flats. Kent needs affordable, quality housing for local families — not more developments that price out the people who grew up here.
Reduce council tax
Local councils across Kent keep asking for more money while delivering less. We would push for a full review of council spending and meaningful reductions in council tax bills.
The cost of living crisis didn’t happen overnight, and fixing it will take real political courage. That’s exactly what we intend to bring.
