- Email address
- Donation amount, date and payment method
- Permissibility declaration (confirmation that you are a permissible donor)
- Donor type (individual, company, trade union, etc.)
Why we collect this data: Under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA), we are legally required to verify that all donations come from permissible donors and to record and report certain donation information to the Electoral Commission. This is a statutory obligation that we cannot waive.
Legal basis: Compliance with a legal obligation (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(c)) — we are required by PPERA to collect and retain donor information.
Electoral Commission reporting: Donations of more than £500 from a single source in a calendar year must be reported to the Electoral Commission. The donor’s name, address and donation amount will appear on the public register of donations maintained by the Electoral Commission.
Payment processing: Online card payments are processed securely by Stripe (stripe.com), our third-party payment processor. Stripe processes your card details in accordance with PCI DSS standards. We do not store your full card number on our servers. Stripe’s privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
Retention: Donor records are retained for 7 years from the date of the donation in line with our accounting obligations and Electoral Commission requirements. After this period, records are securely deleted.
Returning impermissible donations: If we are unable to verify that a donation is from a permissible source, the donation will be returned within 30 days and any personal data collected will be deleted after the return is completed, subject to any legal reporting requirements.
